Mahatma Gandhi

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was the pre-eminent political and spiritual leader of India during the Indian independence movement. People call him Bapu or Mahatma Gandhi. His Date of Birth is 2 October 1869. was born in Porbandar. He is officially honoured in India as the Father of the Nation; his birthday, 2 October, is commemorated there as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence. His father, Karamchand Gandhi was the diwan (Prime Minister) of the eponymous Porbander state.

Mohandas was married to 14-year old Kasturbai Makhanji in May 1983.Gandhi's first child was born When Gandhi was 15, but survived only a few days. Mohandas and Kasturba had four children: Harilal, born in 1888; Manilal, born in 1892; Ramdas, born in 1897; and Devdas, born in 1900.

Gandhi ji died at the age of 78 in January 30, 1948.
